Hey!

I am a nurse from Miami who is about to travel to Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC. I will be in the NICU and I will be with a fellow traveler in the ER. Any advice?

I also was wondering about American Mobile. They booked me the job, I have yet to sign a contract. I came upon this forum last night and read all the bad things people had to say about this company. They offered me a pay rate of $31-$33 and housing of $1200 a month.

I did some comparative shopping with other companies. Novapro?? offered me $34-$35 and $1600 a month housing stipend.

So I called American Mobile back I told my recuiter about what I have found. She is yet to get back to me.

Do any of you have any advice as for negeotiating?:nurse:

hey i can tell u about CNMC's NICU b/c that was last my assignment...it is crazy...that unit is the epitome of hit-the-ground-running. make sure u charge up with caffeine before u walk thru the doors...travelers get dumped on in this unit. we got 4 baby assignments that were NOT flip-and-feed, so to speak. the babies are there for some kind of surgical reason and require a lot more than flipping and feeding. i've had days in that unit where i prayed that no one tried to crash on me. the unit is divided into 6 bays and u can have ur patients split all over the unit and ur running all day. i personally would not resign there. there are a handful of staff that are supportive and help u out, but look more to ur fellow travelers for a shoulder to lean on. i know this sounds dismal, but not all travelers have had this kind of experience there, so ur's might be different. when do u start and where are u staying? please keep me posted via PM!!
