My first assignment in the Bay Area in 1989 paid me $18.00 an hour, I took the free housing, no perdiem pay but got a $3000 completion bonus at the end. (minus taxes). Oh, and travel pay was zz/per mile for a max of $300 each way. We only did 8 hour shifts back then but did get some OT by coming in early, and really good OT by coming back with less than 8 hours off. Don't think the $21.45 is even close to being a fair wage.

ps, some will say "add in the perdiems and you have $xx.xx but I don't like getting quotes that way. What if I don't qualify for the perdiem in the end. They didn't take taxes out of that money and now I have to come up with a big chunk at the end of the year. I'd rather have a larger tax return than to owe money. Just my opinion.

I am just starting traveling and am looking at a few different offers and am looking for some feedback. I am an ER nurse with 12 years experience and am looking to go to "around" San Fransisco. I was quoted a base pay of 21.45, not including any per diem or housing. It is 12 hour night shifts so it would follow the 8 and then 1.5 x base pay for the last four. There was also a weekly per diem of 245. I would be utilizing their housing. This seems a little low to me, but I am not a pro at comparing all of the other benefits that go into travelling and was wondering if someone who has travelled to this area could give me a little feedback. Thanks
