Travel nursing? Advice?

I currently have a wonderful full time job at a specialty hospital. I like my job but the idea of travel nursing seems very appealing. I am married and really wound only be interested in the shortest assignments possible such as 2-4 weeks maybe once or twice a year just to mix things up and have the opportunity to see new places. Is anyone out there familiar with the travel nurse industry? Is It really too good to be true? My main concern is that the assignments would have terrible work environments with ridiculous pt loads and severely understaffed units. I work in a PCCU/tele unit and rarely have more than 3 pts never more than 4. I would greatly appreciate some info from people who have been travel nurses or know someone with that kind of experience who could point me to a reputable agency that won't potentially put nurses in situations that can jeopardize safety.
