travel nurse pay

I want to know anybody's thoughts on travel nursing pay. Who sets the hourly wage and why are some companies so different in pay. For example: My friend had a contract for $31 while I was offered $26.50 for same hospital, same unit-different company. What's the deal?:uhoh21:

Travel pay can vary widely just like any other nursing job.

Personally, if I was going to take the effort to travel, I wouldnt take less than 35/hour with paid private housing and a contract that guranteed at least 48hours/week with overtime pay. You can find these types of contracts and better if you look around.

If you just want to travel as a vacation and go to Hawaii, dont expect over 18/hour because everyone wants to go there.

I havent travelled yet because my current job pays extremely well but when I talked to several travel agencies I gave them my specifics- 35+/hr, guaranteed overtime, private housing.. They wont always have contracts like that but they come along. Dont be bashful about asking for more money! These people are making a tidy profit off your work and you deserve to get paid well!
