Has anyone had any experience with transverse myelitis? A friend of mine recently died as a result of it. She was in ICU for about 4 weeks. Never figured out what caused it.

OK.......so has anyone heard of a spinal stroke?? This friend of mine who was diagnosed with transverse myelitis was also considered as possibly having had a spinal stroke. Anyway, she was perfectly healthy one day, and the next day she was paralyzed from the waist down. After a week she started regaining some movement in her legs. But then, she suddenly got worse and ended up having her entire large bowel removed. She required a ventilator and dialysis and was in ICU for weeks until she died. :o
