Transferring Nursing Schools

If a nursing school (BS) that a transfer plans to switch over to requires that s/he send a high school transcript, must the transfer go back and ask his/her high school counselor, or does the transfer's current school have a copy of that? Sorry it's a bit of a stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure since I'm asking for a close family friend of mine, so any help would be appreciated. :)

I've never transferred nursing schools, but have transferred to different colleges. Each time I needed to send all my college records, but never my high school records. Each schools seems to want an original set all their own. So if high school transcripts are required for the new school I say get them from the high school. It would be easier to just call and ask the admissions office to be certain though.

I jsut transferred nursing schools. Your new school will want their very own, offical copies of everything. Before you transfer MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT TRANSFERS!!!!....I went through one semester of a ADN program ata satallite branch of a main university and the class was just titled Nursing 1. At my new college which is the main branch of where I was at has each class divided up like Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Foundations of Nursing, Concepts of Nursing, etc.... I had to petition all the classes basically so I wouldn't have to repeat them. Well, long story short I only got out of three classes and I am repeating three classes that are so boring because I just covered the same material. Plus I now have to come up with some extra classes to make up the hours so I can graduate on time. Hope this helps!!!!!...

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that!

I would plan on having to contact the HS to have the transcripts sent. It's possible that as a transfer they won't require them but if they do they will probably want an "official" copy.

I just transferred too. It's one of the biggest hassles I have ever endured. Just make sure you have all transcripts. I am not moving again until I graduate this time! Even if I have to stay behind by myself while my family moves!
