Transfer Nursing Student and TEAs test

Published

Hey everyone,

So I was at the University of South Carolina my freshman year and switched to University at Buffalo last fall. Buffalo is not a direct admission into the nursing program, you apply the end of your sophomore year. With high school credits I was able to finish a semester early and in return was home this Spring from school. However, I did not get into Buffalos nursing program as I have a 3.3 prereq GPA and a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Although I have some background in shadowing a nurse and volunteering at a hospital it did not help my application. I am stuck as to where to go from here. Most colleges require the TEAs test to get in but honestly with being home for the semester I do not remember a lot of the material I learned and don't feel l can relearn it in time to do well on this test for the Spring semester. I am retaking some prereqs this fall at Buffalo to try and get a better grade for applying again along with refreshing myself. Are there any schools in NY that don't require the TEAs test, or if I don't transfer would you suggest I get a degree in another field and then apply to a school with the accelerated Nursing program? Sorry for the long paragraph, thank you for any help!!
