Transfer cna license to another state

Published

Hi guys.

I'm currently enrolled to a Community College here in Phoenix,Arizona with Nursing Assistant program Fall2016

My questions are:

1. After being certified(around Dec)

Can I transfer my certification from Arizona to California?

if so 2. How? What are the steps?

3. Do I need to have cna work experience to be eligible?

4. How much would it cost me to process all these papers?all in?

5. I'm planning to work in Sacramento, would there be hospitals that would accept me?

pls pls pls. I need to transfer to another state. Thank you so much!!!

You will need to check California's department of health or board of nursing website to see if you can have your Arizona CNA reciprocated in California and what is required to have it done. It varies from state to state. I transferred my Oregon CNA over to Washington and the following is what I had to do:

  • I had to complete additional education. In Washington they require 7 hours of HIV/AIDS training which is not required in Oregon.
  • I had to send in my application to the Washington Department of Health with an application fee. My application included my CNA training and any prior work experience as a CNA.
  • After my application was processed, I was sent a fingerprint card and had to have my fingerprints done by a law enforcement agency, sealed, and then mailed back to the state with a fee for my criminal background check.
  • After my background check cleared, I was placed on the state CNA registry and was mailed a hard copy of my license.

All in all, this process took a little over 3 months.
