Training course for Radiology Nurse or Cath Lab Nurse?

Published

Is there any needed training course in order to be a Cath Lab/ Angio nurse in Australia? What about training course to become a Radiology Nurse?

:)

Specializes in Cath lab, acute, community.

No there isn't, it's on the job training. Most cath labs will view experience in cardiac (ecg interpretation, caring for cardiac pts), surgery, ICU/HDU and neuro to be a bonus. Then from there they will take you on ALS courses, or ECG courses as required.

Radiology likes experience with radiology. But that really depends on what applicants they receive.

Are you an Australian resident? If you are thinking of joining a cath lab, feel free to private message me.

Thanks for the info, canned_bread!😄 No, I'm not yet a resident. I really am interested in working in a cath lab though. I was a bit worried when I read an article that mentioned having to undergo a course, but that article was dated 2010. Thank you for clarifying! What a relief! I do have a few questions, but unfortunately I can't send a private message. Is it ok if you private message me your email?
