you might be asked to work nights in any position in a hospital. You might have to consider going outside the hospital, or see if there is a need in one of the day-only units, like special procedures, OR, PACU, ambulatory care---. Even then they have night shifts when there are emergency surgeries. A GI lab might be days only

Hi Everyone,
I have been a "lurker" here for a long time and love to read the posts and am joining now. I am a new RN and LOVE my job but I hate over nights. I have been doing it for 5 months now and just can't adjust - I suffer from terrible insomnia or sleep all the time, I am becoming depressed. I work in a busy ER and worry about leaving for something slower, and that I won't enjoy Med Surg/etc. I have an interview with an ICU DAY position but just worry about the work and if I will even like it. Change is always scary.
There is no chance of me moving to days or midshift. Any thoughts?
Thanks for reading!
