Too Long Waiting or too picky?

Published

I'm looking to move to Richmond, soon, where my boyfriend is currently an LPN. The only reason I've yet to make the move is that neither of us really have the cash to set up a place together just yet. He is an LPN, but not working as one. He passed the boards nearly a year ago, and right after went through a really tough time. He wasn't sure he'd make a great nurse because of all the other stress he was under at the time. Now that we've come through the fire and ice, so to speak, he's ready to jump into the career he's always wanted, but he can't seem to find any place that will hire him? Is it because he went so long between passing boards to trying to get that first LPN job? Or is he just being too picky? Until recently, he hadn't filled out any applications for nursing homes, instead focusing on a few hospitals that he really wanted to work in. While I've been arguing that he needs to fill out any and all applications he can to get his foot in the door, he refuses to listen, arguing that those hospitals are hiring like crazy and would be a good bet to apply at. Now that he's branching out, I'm starting to hope that he'll get hired soon but has he waited too long since he got his LPN to start applying?
