To UCLA ICU nurses, I need help. I came from a hospital in northern california who has an intensivist who do rounds in the morning, does not use swan ganz after open heart(we use flotrac), very organized and everyone treat each other with respect.
Now I moved in a different part of california and it's all different. They do not have an intensivist, they only have new hospitalists who even fails doing arterial lines, they do not do rounds in the morning so working night shift is hard because you're left with unanswered questions and orders that should have been asked when the doctor came in during days, there's no organization and now after working for months I noticed the trend of doctors just disrespecting the nurses calling them dummies even if it's not their fault and no one is talking because they say it's normal. how could that be normal!? I've been a nurse for almost a decade now and I never had any experience of that kind of rudeness.
My question is, how is the working environment in the ICU of UCLA?I know the doctors are very good but are they professional when it comes to treating the nurses as part of the team?do you guys have an intensivist? How is the working environment?
