To those who got AA degree then BSN program--wise move?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hey all,

I've applied to 2 ADN programs and 1 BSN program. I've heard people say that people don't tend to get enough clinical experience generally in the BSN programs and that it is smarter to get your ADN first and then go back for your BSN as you get more experience in 2 year associates programs typically. My sister is an AS degree RN and that is her viewpoint. So for those of you out there who have gone the route of getting an AA degree and having no nursing experience going directly into a BSN program, what was your experience? In particular, did you have enough clinical experience and feel prepared after school was finished and have a decent experience in the "real world" working as an RN? Please do tell... Thanks ;)
