Hello, I am new to this website and I was looking for some advice regarding my education in nursing. I have wanted to get my BScN for years now, I am a mature student (36) and have a three year old daughter now. I have applied in the past but since my grades weren't excellent, I kept being put on a waiting list. This year during Covid I finally found a college in Ontario that did strictly online Pre Health Science which fit my life perfectly while taking care of my daughter and working. I have been doing very well, my grades are high. I applied for BScN and Practical Nursing as my second choice at my local college. I was now told that they are taking their student's pre health program marks first for acceptance before mine and that they didn't recognize my college (the classes are exactly the same, the college is in my province) for entrance to the degree program. I was told, though, that they would use my Pre Health Science marks for the Practical Nursing admittance though, (?) and at least I was hoping to get into that. Now I am on a waiting list for Practical Nursing as well and I have 90s and 80s in all my classes. I don't know what to do. They are saying that if I take their pre health science course (sounds like a money pit to me) I could be considered for next September. I don't know what I should do. I have already essentially wasted money at this point trying to get in. I feel discouraged. I don't know if I am accepted into Practical Nursing if it's going to take me forever to do a bridge program after and how long it would actually take. Any suggestions on what I should do would be welcome. Thank you so much! My end goal has always been BScN and beyond.
