I just went and took the GAP test yesterday for the Transition program. I believe that TJC has just started requiring the GAP test because there is very limited information on the test but I was told that it was similar to that of the NCLEX-PN. The test is 110 questions you are given 3hrs to take it, honestly this test reminds me more of the exit level HESI which I found to be harder than NCLEX. The school requires a 700 minimum but I was told to aim higher t least 750-800 and the program now is hybrid so its a little more competitive. I ended with a score of 655 but now that I know it is more HESI like and not NCLEX I have better materials for studying and will retake in about 3 weeks for the Fall program. Does anyone have any other material that can be used to study with. I remember in school I scored a 520 the first time and then an 810 the second time so that is my goal this next go around.
I studied the HESI A2 study guide book that I ordered on Amazon for about $30 and also did a lot of practice tests online. It helped some but there a lot of A&P questions that I didn't know and made educated guess.
Math- lots of ratios, word problems, and try to memorize the conversion table (I.e. Liters, ml, grams, kilograms). There is also problems that aren't multiple choice on the Math section.
My scores:
A&P-96
Math-90
Reading-92
if you study hard you'll do fine
Finally got my OK from the bon...on friday! And last day to turn in applications is on Monday! How lucky is that! As far as hesi, wasn't hard at all other than a&p. I figured since we have a retest I can go ahead and take the hesi And whatever I do bad on, I'll know exactly what to study for. Welp, 100 in reading, 94 math, and 80 in a&p. I wouldn't say it's hard at all, but I would suggest you skim through it a few times as a refresher. Finishing up last tests in A&p2 before finals and decided to just stick with the 80 for a&p, hopefully won't hurt my chances because I know it's not helping them.
