Hi,
I recently accepted a job offer to work in a PICU by my house. It is a smaller ICU compared to the big city ICUs but it is an academic institution. I am excited to start and excited about the change in environment/population. I currently work ICU float at a major academic hospital. I've had about 9 years of experience in the ICU and I've done mostly MICU/SICU but I've also done neuro ICU, CTICU, cardiac medical ICU, etc. My question is how hard is it to transition to PICU from adults? I know 2 girls at my current job who also recently took a peds CVICU job and PICU trauma job and they said it's going good but they had a 16 week orientation. My orientation will only be 6-8 weeks. Will that be enough? Do you have any tips for me? Help a fellow nurse out 🙂 thanks so much!
