So I am giving report to the next shift ....and of course a pt from OR procedure (peg tube) comes in the middle of it. I jump up and make sure the pt is ok and there is no bleeding. He is fine, no problems, VSS, no pain. Go to give report to another next shift nurse -always late on the floor by at least 10 min :angryfire- and tell her that her pt came back and he is fine blah blah blah. She goes "Oh okay, I am really busy right now, could you do the post op note on him?" I say that I will and it is not a big deal. So I do the note that I was going to do and get the room all sorted out - scds on, pt covered properly, iv converted to heplock, 02 to wall oxygen.... Then I go to put the note in the chart...and there the next shift nurse is, on the computer, giggling at her e-mail :angryfire- meanwhile I was busting my butt to get her patient situated in his room. ---I am so irritated right now. Not that I had to do the post op note or getting the pt situated- But the fact she lied about being so busy, made me stay past my time (our facility is now time crunching), had me get him all sorted in the room WITHout even OFFEring help! The thing is, is that I would have been in the room helping if the situation was reversed, not on the computer cackling at an e-mail.
