Thoughts on FSU CRNA?

Nursing Students SRNA

I wanted to hear the experiences of FSU SRNAs. Did you like the program?

Unfortunately, this program is self-taught. The program director is nice, along with the other professors; they want you to succeed. However, the Chemistry/biochem/sim professor is NOT great; I believe they need to hire a new professor for that course. The Professor doesn't know how to teach the material but is excellent at simulation. You need a strong background in Chemistry/physics to survive in that class. (SN: The application states it's not required but "preferred." I strongly advise taking a recent chem/physic prerequisite course). The Nurse Anesthesia program is complicated, so you need professors who know how to teach instead of wasting your money and time. When applying to a CRNA program, PAY attention to the attrition rate %. It doesn't lie.

Wow, thats pretty disheartening.  I'm an alum and FSU is my #1 school choice for CRNA. I have heard mixed reviews regarding the program.  It's making me think twice about applying here... What is your current attrition rate?  I heard the first time pass rate for this most recent class was not great.

Best advice I can give is to go somewhere that has 0- 1% attrition rate over the last few years. I don't care how expensive the tuition is, It'll be worth it in the end. I went to a school that was cheap and did not really think about the attrition rate at the time. It was the worst 2 years of my life.
