Thomas Edison State University Psych NP program

Published

So I applied to Thomas Edison State University's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program because they were offering a grant. I had an interview with the director of the program. I was told there might be 2 or 3 spots still left for January 2025. I receive a letter of acceptance for the program then at the bottom there's a little paragraph that says,

"Currently, we are unable to offer you a place in the Expanding Mental Health Nursing in New Jersey Grant Program; all funding has already been claimed. However, we encourage all students to pursue other financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Outside scholarships may also be available."

I honestly feel blindsided, and hoodwinked. I feel that was deceptive of them. The director made me believe all I need to do is make a $300 deposit (which I get back) to get into the January cohort. Because 2 or 3 other potential students hadn't made their deposits. I want my psych NP, but I don't want loans. So I started applying for scholarships all over. I honestly only applied to this school because of the grant. I am not even sure I want to go here.

Hi Kimmy 15,

It could be that by the time you responded the grant had already been used. That program however is cheaper than most. I am in the process of applying there and was wondering how long the process take after your application to receive an interview date and then a spot.
