Hey, I'm a new member, but just had to say I completely agree.
I am fearful every time I have to go to my college because I know that it's going to be one problem after another. Today was no different. Met with advisor who called admissions to give me the pin I need to register next week. They said they couldn't give it because I'm missing 'something'. Went to admissions. They couldn't figure out what I was missing. This whole thing should have taken fifteen minutes, instead I was there for two hours!
I have to go back on Monday and I'm already panicking about what's going to happen next. I want to be in the program so bad and I'm afraid their bureaucracy is going to mess it up for me and I won't be able to go because of mistake on their part.
All we can do is be persistent and prepare to spend a lot of time shuffling from one office to another and eventually it will all work out.

Is the bureaucracy! It is making me insane. I am trying to apply for graduate school at the same school that I currently attend for my BSN. Even though it is the same school, I have to get two copies of my transcript mailed from the BSN office to the MSN office. These offices are literally 40 feet from each other in the building. So I pay to get them mailed and a confirmation goes through.
A month later I call the MSN admissions person to ensure that they received all of my transcripts and recommendations. They had received everything except the transcripts from the BSN program! Argh! I then call the registrars office and ask why the transcript has not made it, and I am informed that I have a hold on my account for exit counseling. I didn't realize that this hold applied even before graduation and had been putting it off. Oops, my bad- but why didn't they call or have an error message pop up when I ordered it and there was a hold?
So I complete the stupid exit counseling. I call the financial aid office to see if they have removed the hold. They don't know. They say I have to talk to the registrar. The registrar says that I need to talk to financial aid. I call financial aid back and they finally figure out that I need to talk to the debt management office. You see, the financial aid office only deals with exit counseling for the Stafford Loans and the debt management office only deals with Perkins Loans! Are you freaking kidding me? I am so glad that my tuition is going to keeping two entirely separate offices that deal with different loans, don't communicate and don't even know who people have to talk to about certain issues.
I am sorry, this is verbose, whiny and hard to follow... I just had to vent it somewhere!
