The waiting begins

I was looking for some answers to two questions. The first is how long before I begin hearing from schools as to if and when I will be interviewed. I have applied to 5 schools. UA at Birmingham, Samford in Birmingham, Medical College of Georgia, Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia and Gooding Institute. Deadlines for applications run from 10/31/03 through 01/12/04. I am curious how long after the deadlines do succesful applicants hear about an interview? Can you be selected for an interview prior to the application deadline and will they contact you only if you get an interview? Also, I am trying to get information about strengths of these different programs. Does anyone have any pointers on any of these programs?

Tom,

I applied to MTSA, have not yet received a letter inviting me for an interview, but when I spoke with them on the phone, they told me I would get an interview - the letters go out in Dec., they said the interviews are the 3rd week in Jan. Good luck!

Deb,

Thanks for the response. I was wondering about my application and how competitive I will be. I have the minimun experience that most schools are requiring. I am in a RN-BSN program with one more semester to go, however, I will graduate in May before CRNA school in August. Anyone know whether not having the BSN prior to applying will hurt my chances even though I will complete prior to school starting? All the schools I have talked with say I meet the criteria as long as I complete prior to the start of class, however I am wondering if this will hurt my chances since I will still have to complete requirements and they might not want to take a chance that I might not finish. Also, I will have one year in the ICU by February of 2004. I will have 1.5 years prior to the time most schools begin. Anyone in a similar situation who has gotten in? As far as grades go, I have a 3.5 average overall, with a 4.0 science GPA, and 700 quantitative, 600 verbal and 5.0 analytical. However, my biggest concern is that I am 49 years of age and will turn 50 within the first month in the program! I appreciate any advice anyone can share.

Tom,

I sent you a PM.
