Hi all!! I saw that there hasn't been a forum started for the UAB AMNP program for 2026 admission yet, so I wanted to make one since priority deadline just passed.
Super nervous for this!! I literally keep checking my email like a maniac haha. I recently came to the realization I wanted to be a nurse during my gap year working at an OBGYN clinic as a medical assistant. I thought I wanted to be a PA, but after shadowing a few, I realized maybe I wanted a slightly different path in my health care career.
I graduated Cum Laude with my Bachelors in Health Science at Samford, GPA is a 3.5. I have no outstanding prerequisites; on my transcript I have 3 withdrawals from courses due to illnesses, but ended up with A's in the 2 classes I did take. The other I did not need for my PA school application anymore. I have about 2000 hours of PCE, and have been working full time along side a doctor who has been voted Best OBGYN in Birmingham several years in a row. He has taught me SOOO much, and I think he has definitely helped me learn a lot in pathology and pharmaceuticals. I have 3 strong recommendations from NP's I have worked with. I have an interesting resume with lots of leadership roles.
I know this program is about a 50% acceptance rate, and I am just getting nervous after reading some of the previous forums over the years. Would love to hear about your experiences and updates! GOOD LUCK!
