In class we discussed the fact that there is a severe nurse shortage right now. But is the shortage due to not enough new nurses or too many established nurses leaving the profession? And what I really want to know is what can be done to fix the problem?

Better pay, better compensation packages, better support groups, unions, etc, etc, etc.....
