The best graduate schools and the best place to live?

Hello everyone :)

I´m a nurse student in Iceland and I really want to take my master´s degree in CNM in the United States.

I´ve been looking for schools online and I found the rank of the best graduate schools here: http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/grad/nmp/search/

But I want to hear from you (who are or have been studying to be CNM), what schools you recommend.

The location is also important since I´m married with two children and need a children friendly environment :)

Hope you can give me some tips ;)

Hi there. So I think if I am right by the US News and World Report list that OHSU's CNM program is rated #1 in the nation. OHSU is Oregon Health and Sciences University located in Portland, OR.

I am married with 2 small children and we live in Hillsboro, OR, just outside of Portland. I think Portland is a VERY family friendly city. We have a great zoo, the Children's Museum, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) as well as tons of hiking, biking, skiing (usually year round!!) at Mt Hood, the coast is about 1.5 hours drive. The weather is FABULOUS during the summer, but we are known for the rainy winters, but you can't have one without the other.

We moved here from the East coast of the US due to my hubby's job about 7.5 yrs ago. I am applying to OHSU's BSN program this year. We really love living here, I think it's a great place to live. Lots of great places to eat, lots to see and do. Feel free to send me a message any time and I can give you more info.

I have actually been looking at Portland, my mom has travelled a little bit in the states and she really liked Oregon county.

But there is one problem, my husband is going to study photography and we haven´t found a good school for him in Portland. But we are looking into that.

It is a bit strange to move to a country I don´t know.. except from what I´ve seen in american movies, hahaha!

Is anyone here who is or has studied in the University of Illinois in Chicago? I can see on their web page that they have a CNM program but I can´t find any more information on that.

HJUKKA-Have you checked into Oregon College of Arts and Craft? I believe they have a photography program. I don't know anything about the school at all, other than it is private, so between OHSU and OCAC, you would have one steep bill!

He has been checking out this college as well as one other, it´s just difficult to see if it´s a good one or not, neither of these schools are on the us news site.

What is the tuition and fees at OHSU, I really don´t understand the list on the web site.. I guess it´s too easy here at the University of Iceland, just one standart price for all departments :)

Yeah, I don't know anything about the Art schools in the area. They are usually really small. As far as the tuition at OHSU, the graduate program is $470 per credit hour. So, it you were taking 12 hours in one term, that would be about $5600 for that one term. Then there are some fees per term to add and those are based on other factors, so you would add another approximately $1600 to your term cost. Then of course there are books and supplies! OHSU is on a quarter system, so there are 3 terms per year. So you would be looking at around $21-22,000 per year.
