Texas Tech 2nd Degree BSN 2019 Cohort

Published

Specializes in MICU.

I did not see a 2019 cohort forum started, so figured I would start one!

I am currently enrolled in a nursing program at the university where my husband works. Long story short, my husband is exploring new career opportunities in Austin, and if he leaves his current job, I will have to switch programs. We are at a private institution and simply cannot afford the tuition + fees if he were to leave as I currently am getting free tuition through the university's tuition-exchange program.

I am currently preparing in case he gets a new job, and am extremely interested in Tech's program for a Spring 2019 start date.

I wanted to start this forum for other potential students who are interested and plan on applying! I will be applying to the Austin cohort and hope to goodness that I get in if my hubs gets a new job.

My background:

- BS Biology 3.88 GPA

- Currently enrolled in a nursing program

- No work experience yet, but will work as a CNA beginning in May and will work until January when classes start

- No stats yet for the TEAS

I look forward to chatting with you all!

Since application opened yesterday, thought I would go ahead and post. Maybe we can get this forum started back up and we will have some support while we play the waiting game! I applied to the Accelerated program in Lubbock for my first choice and Abilene as my second.

I will graduate from TxTech with a BS in Nutrition (Minor in Biology) in August and an overall GPA of 3.85/Nursing Pre-req GPA of 3.92 (not sure which they use) and a Science GPA of 3.75 (took MBIO 3401 instead of BIOL 2420 due to major requirement and made a B).

TEAS overall 86% (Reading 83%, Math 100%, Science 80.9%, English/Language 79.2%)

I have my CNA license and BLS certification. Looking for CNA jobs now in hopes of getting some healthcare experience.

Hope to see some other postings and good luck to everyone!!

I'm applying to Lubbock as well! I take the TEAS test tomorrow and start CNA classes Monday. I'm really anxious about getting in!
