Texas A&M HSC- college station

U.S.A. Texas

Hey Guys! so I'm in my final semester at community college before I start applying to nursing schools. I'm taking all the entrance exams and my stress level is out to here!! I was just wondering if there are any current nursing students at Texas A&M or those wanting to apply, for that matter, that can answer a question or two of mine. I have a 3.4 over all GPA and a 3.8 in my science courses, will I have any chance of making it in or is my GPA just too low? it's low because I didn't know nursing is what I wanted to do at first but once I realized nursing is what I wanted I started making all A's. anyways, I know I still need to see how I do on my HESI and all that but I was just curious. any comments would be appreciated. thank you.

I have a 3.4 overall GPA as well but my science courses are close to a 2.2. I took them a long time ago but I really don't want to retake the courses again. I was talking to a friend of mine who is a Dr. and is a part-time instructor at the TAMU-College of Medicine. She told me not to worry about it. So go for it! If you do great on the HESI, then you will probably get in. Are you signed up for one of the informational sessions that the TAMU Nursing school is offering? I will be attending one in October. They are not mandatory but you are able to speak with an advisor and he/she can help you with any questions or concerns that you may have.

:D

Hello,

I am a current student at Texas A&M HSC CON College Station. I know, a long title. Your GPA is good. I would most definitely apply. We have amazing profs that absolutely love their job. You should come by and speak with Catheryn Cochran and she can give you all the info you need. If you have some specific questions please feel free to ask. I will tell you or get you the answers you need. One question, are you going to apply for the generic or accellerated program?

Jetvirus -

I have signed up for the informational session next month with TAMU HSC CON. I am planning on applying for the accelerated program since I already have my BS. Do you know if they will substitute any courses? I looked online at those classes that are required (or considered their core curriculum classes), however, I did not have to take those classes for my degree that they have listed. I wonder if they allow you take those courses alongside the program's required coursework.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Also, do you know if a good reference will help (along with good test scores) with admission?

Thanks!

Jetvirus - Do you have any info regarding my last question? Any help is very much appreciated!!!

JetVirus,

I just was accepted into the accelerated program at TAMHSC and at some other institutions as well. Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] so I could ask a few questions? I would PM but I've searched and have no clue how to!

I just got my HESI Scores back. Not sure what overall score is good. Can anyone post their scores?

Does anyone know when acceptance letters are sent out?

Does anyone know when acceptance letters are sent out?

Here's what's on the website:

"Applicants who apply for spring terms can expect to receive their admission decision by early December. Those applying for summer terms will be notified by early April. Official notification is provided only by mail to the permanent address given on the application. All applicants will receive a letter from the Office of Student Affairs as to their status whether admitted, denied or given the option of placement on a waiting list. A select number of applicants who are not admitted in the initial round may be offered the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list. If space becomes available, additional offers may be extended. It is the policy of the College of Nursing that information regarding placement on the waiting list will only be provided by appointment."

Anyone else applying to the Generic BSN for Fall 2010?

I am. There are not as many posts here as there are on the UT and TWU websites. The best of luck and maybe we can get more posts.

Does anyone what previous stats are for the nursing program (GPA's, HESI)?
