ADN at Tarrant County College or BSN at Texas A&M Corpus Christi?

I'm eighteen, in my freshman year at Tarrant County College. I am going to become a CNA in early December. I'm wondering if I should work part-time as a CNA and get my ADN at Tarrant County College, then work as an RN get my BSN or if I should finish up my prerequisites while working as a CNA and then apply for the BSN program at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I'm torn between the two...I get enough financial aid that I should be able to afford both.

If you can afford your BSN, go for that. Some hospitals will pay slightly more ($0.25/hr-ish), for a BSN. Plus, if you get your BSN now, you won't have as far to go if you want to get your MSN some day. TAMUCC, is acctually where I went to school, 4 years ago. At the time, they were kind of disorganized, but I survived. I am not sure how they are now. What are your reasons for going to TAMUCC, specifically?

TAMUCC is just originally where I wanted to go when I graduated high school, but I fell in love with a guy and didn't want to leave. I'm also in love with Corpus Christi and TAMUCC has a higher passing rate on the NCLEX than Tarrant County College.

Personally, I would go with the higher passing rate. I felt like I was extremely prepared for the NCLEX, after graduating. From my experience, love will work it out no matter where you are, if it is real. If it is not real, it won't work out either way. I know both sides of that coin. I would suggest securing a self-sufficient future for yourself, before changing your life for love, especially being so young, but that's just my $0.02. Sorry, I will get off my soap box now. :) I just want to pass on a little bit of advice from personal experience. I hope no offense is taken. :shy:

No offense is taken. I know you're completely right. :) I did let love keep me here, but I don't regret it. I've decided to get my ADN at TCC, because it's much cheaper (I'm living on my own and putting myself through school) and I only have a semester and the summer left of pre-reqs. I should be finished in two and a half years and I've actually talked to my boyfriend about doing the RN to BSN program at TAMUCC after I finish up here. By then, he'll be finished with his welding certification. We agreed that since I am making a sacrifice now, he will make one by moving away with me so I can get my BSN. He always puts me becoming a nurse before anything else. I know we're young, but I think this is a special relationship that, if handled with thought and maturity, will be able to last the trials that go along with time.
