Could anyone enrolled at TCU CRNA program shed some light on the GRE issue? Does TCU look heavily at the GRE?

everything is weighted. i don't know the secret formula (and if i did, i'm sure i wouldn't be allowed to tell ya...), but if it were not important, tcu would not require it. i am sure they use it as a tool to "measure" an applicant ..... and thin the heard.

that being said, if they suggest 1100 as min score and you are > 950, probably not as big a problem as you are thinking.... but if you are 800's and below -> not so good. i really think admissions is a "package deal" - that is what the interview is about: getting to know you, see if you are a good fit, etc. they are asking themselves: does this person have what it takes to make it through the program, deal with the stress, perform well on the exam (school has a reputation to maintain), and represent us well in clinicals.... get the idea?

sell yourself..... make them want you. personality and determination are very helpful (in the interview, in school, in clinicals, in everyday life).

I did better on the MAT than the GRE. I'd already submitted the GRE to TCU so sent the MAT as soon as I finished it (literally walked across campus from the testing center & hand delivered it). My MAT score was really high. They weren't worried at all in interview that my GRE was lower since a lot of the material tested was so old for me....I'd been out of college for 16 years.....and the MAT was more analytical anyway. They accepted me so all was good.....

What was your GPA?

I just spoke with them (TCU) today and am really hoping for an interview. I graduated 12 yrs ago with an anemic 2.88. Been recovering hearts in CVICU for the last 4 yrs and pretty much every other kind of critical care nursing before that. I was in a horrible place in my personal and family life then. Now my life and family (same one) is great. I am mature, focused, and totally committed. GRE was 1050. Currently taking Organic Chemistry with an A at mid-term.

I just want an opportunity to sit down and let them hear from me. I hope they don't look at my GPA and pass me over over.

Do u have your CCRN? If so, do you have a copy of the score? They like to see a score >100. They have a formula that determines whether you are a candidate. I don't know what it involves honestly, but they do ask for the CCRN score if you have it available. The GPA is low for them, but if all your other scores are high you might have a chance. If u don't get an interview this year keep taking courses to raise your GPA. A lot of folks will take 1 or 2 graduate courses. Best of luck...

I only scored 1010 on the GRE and still somehow managed to get an interview at TCU. Thankfully, they utilize multiple factors in determining whether we are "interview worthy." YEA!! I'm so excited! Good luck to you!

Do you mind me asking what your GPA breakdown was?
