Terms we will not admit to using

  • Experts

You all have heard of them and of course we never actually use any of these terms but somehow they are there and everyone knows them.......

There the "unofficial" abbreviation list

like

FLK Funny Looking Kid

or

Craft syndrome - Can't Remember A Flippin' Thing

PFO - clean version - Potted (Drunk) and Fell Over

AHD - Acute Haloperidol Deficit

Or the pseudomedical jargon for describing patient peculiarities i.e.

Mononeuronis Asynapsis

Acute Pneumoencephalopathy (thanks TeeitupTom)

Acute Hyponicotaemia (busting for a cigarette)

Does anyone know anymore??

Okay can anyone add to this list

One of my coworkers called all of our MRCP (mentally-retarded cerebral palsy) patients "MERPS". I, sadly, have used that term a time or two....my bad *spanks my own hand with a ruler*

"Code Brown" ... you can imagine!

what is a merp?

TITRATE TO SILENCE!!!!!!

If I can hear you screaming "I cant breath"....you can breath!!!

TPTP To posh to push (Generally associated with FMPS)

CTF Cletus the fetus (those 23 weekers parents expect us to save)

I have a lot that would probably get me banned from the bb!

As a nurse and the parent of a '29weeker' who received world class care, i find your cletus the fetus extremely callous and offensive. where's your empathy? that's no joking matter, viable fetus or not.

Microdeckia (as in not playing with a full deck)

'11 and a half old pence' i.e. not quite the full shilling

FLK (Funny Looking Kid) i.e. nothing medically wrong with the kid, but looks like there should be a diagnosis to expain it!

some times preceded by UM

FLK was used to also describe strange looking faces. We often believed there was some medical diagnosis to explain this and often there was such a genetic explanation. But sometimes the parents showed up, and we no longer thought the child was FLK.

SC (Stank Crotch):yeah:

My cat's vet told us they use "WK" on charts, as in, "Will Kill" This is reserved for the pets that go beyond biting.
