Hi all,
I have been working in inpatient mental health for two years but am really interested in finding a job which would allow me to work from home. I have found some positions in telephonic case management that appear to offer the option to work from home. I'm located in Minnesota and have found specific positions with Aetna and UnitedHealth Group. I've heard some not-so-great things about these companies, especially UnitedHealth Group. Specifically that expectations are unrealistic. Does anyone have any positive experiences? Has anyone who has been working from home been forced to go back to the office due to not meeting metrics? I would initially start working in an office but want to be guaranteed the ability to work from home after a certain amount of time. I have a good job right now so really don't want to make this career move if I'm going to end up in an office indefinitely.
Does anyone have any other employer recommendations? I've also seen some positions through Humana, Essentia, Univita, Medica and HealthPartners but I'm not sure whether they allow employees to work remotely from home.
Another question. I only have two years experience as a nurse and currently have no case management experience. Any recommendations for getting my foot in the door? I am hoping to stay within behavioral health and am working towards getting board certified. I also have my master's degree.
If anyone has any other ideas for nursing jobs that would allow flexibility to work from home I would love any suggestions! I've also heard Triage and Utilization Review are options but I haven't found anything during my searches.
Thanks!
