Hey all! I have been trying to get into an LPN program since last year. I was actually pregnant last year so I ended up being more lazy than usual and not retaining anything I've studied in the ATI manual. The scores needed to get into the program are READING 75% MATH 75% ENGLISH LANGUAGE 70%..so last year I failed all but reading.
Studied last month, took the test and passed all but English language!
I got a 60% last year, this year I got a 66.7% ..........soooooooo CLOSE!
I cried and was so disappointed in myself after seeing my score. I studied the English language portion so much, I understand it all!! Yet, I am still receiving bad scores!! All I need is a 70% to get into the program which starts in January and seats are almost full..I cannot re-test until November 10th.
Anyone have tips on how I can meet the 70% requirement!!
Thanks in advance.........

Hi,
This website was very very helpful to me:
TEAS® Exam Practice Questions - Raise Your Test of Essential Academic Skills™ Score with our unofficial TEAS® Review Strategies
I also used 2 books:
Teas Review Manual from ATI and 5 Teas Practice Tests Second edition.
Once you study, do the tests just as if you were going to take the real test.
I use the online ATI practice tests. There's 2, I did both.
I used this website (very helpful):
Take Online Courses. Earn College Credit. Research Schools, Degrees & Careers
Good luck! I hope this helps!

First of all, tell us how you studied for exam the first two times, so that we can help direct your studies.

PIETRINAXO,
Have you looked at the report at the end of the ATI online practice tests or even the official TEAS test? It will list the specific areas that you missed. You need to hyper-zero in on those weak grammar areas. If you are scoring far below what you expect in english grammar and yet you think you understand the material then you are clearly missing something. You need to pick apart your results carefully. Based on what you are telling me, you are not understanding something but you think you do. I had to come to grips that indeed I had no idea why I kept missing certain questions. The reason that I missed them is that I thought I knew them because they sounded right. Until I recognized that I really didn't know the underlying rules and then learn them, I performed poorly as well!

LW
Thanks for the replies. I am using the ati study guide. You may be right about me 'thinking' I know it but I don't. I feel like the ati study guide does not have enough practice problems! I have done them all and my scores are good in the practice section. I will look at the websites Fernanda recommended.. Thanks!
After you spend time with other free resources, I suggest that you purchase at least one of the ATI online practice tests. Time yourself and pretend it is a real exam. Take particular note of what you miss on the online test. When I took my practice tests, I marked every question that I was not confident. Then upon scoring my test, I could see those questions that I thought I had right but missed AND those that I wasn't sure about and missed, AND those that I was not sure about but got right. All of these are important but the first one is critical (the one bolded). You should see some correlation to those types of questions you miss often.
