TEAS Exam.. etc! (Applying to nursing programs this fall)

Published

Hello All! (I am all over the place right now... So excuse the disorganized post. )

I wanted to register for the TEAS EXAM but I looked on the ATI testing website and there are no exam dates available. All I saw were exams at Lincoln that were sold out.

Do they not test in the summer?

For those of you who have been through this process what time of the year did you take the exam and how many times?!

I am currently at Goodwin College but I am losing hope!

There is a "points system" that they go by to gain admission into the program and it is extremely competitive. I have students in my class who have passed A&P with an A- OR B+ and are repeating it because their GPA isn't good enough! You are more likely to get accepted if you already have a degree because it gives you a point advantage. I'm also starting to feel they are robbing me because the advisers are encouraging students to get an associates in HS at Goodwin then apply to the program.

For that matter I will be applying to the CCs, BHSN, ST. VS. (Will also still apply to Goodwin to see what happens)

If anyone has any advice, information or will be applying with me this fall comment!

Thank you for your time in advance!

I see a bunch of dates available at a few of the community colleges. I took the TEAS twice. The first time I just went in to see what it was like. Then I got the study manual and did it front to back and took the TEAS a second time and did really well! The first time I took it was right when this version came out-so like 2 or 3 years ago, I think. The second time was the September before I applied. You want to give yourself enough to re-test if you need to. I would recommend taking one this summer so you can see where you stand. If you need to retest, you will see what areas you did the worse on, so you could focus your studying to those sections of the study manual.

I am not sure whether st. vincent requires TEAS... TEAS at Norwalk isn't that bad. They recycle the old exams. anyways.... Do you know the requirements for the Nursing at St. Vincent? Thanks!!
