this was a letter i sent throughout the hospital i worked at- during the time that i was experiencing retaliation for raising patient safety issues. still, i thought it was important to remember to mention the positive, during such a difficult period.

"hospital" mvp's:

on march 23, 2006, one of our patients lost the fight of her life. at that exact second- a husband lost his wife, a son lost his mother, a daughter lost her best friend, grandchildren lost their nana, a doctor, and nurse lost their patient. what a sad day for so many of those who loved her, as they waited so patiently, and held so tight to the faith, and the hope of her survival. it was evident to those of us who aided in her efforts, that she was loved by so many.

I think all to often we get focused on our patients as only our patients and we need to see them as more. The families are nore than people who interupt your schedule and complicate your days with questions that we don't know the answer to. Yes they are more, to more people than we realize.

thank you whistle
