TCC Nursing Program Schedule

Published

Are there any current students out there that can give me an idea what the nursing program schedule is like?

After several years of taking my pre-reqs, I am on track to apply for Fall Quarter. However, I am panicking that I will not be able to handle the full time program while working. For financial reasons, it is simply not possible for me to quit my job. I know that working while in nursing school is highly discouraged, but there is simply no way around it for me. On the positive side, I am single with no children and my job allows me to work nights (4pm - 1am).

Any insight as to what the program is like, what your weekly schedule looks like, exactly how flexible they can be with scheduling clinicals and where the clinicals are scheduled would be VERY much appreciated. I have worked so hard to get to this point, but am now scared to death that my dream will be put on hold due to financial reasons.

almost done with 1st quarter. A job that starts at 4pm should work. My bff works like 5-10 and she makes it work. You may need to take loans, I doubt 40 hrs a week will be manageable if you want to get good grades. However, you just need a 79 to pass, so, maybe you can keep up your current schedule.

I have class monday and tuesday 8-1020, and till 12 on tuesday. Clinical in the morning wed, thurs off usually unless i have a community clinical which we get to sign up for, mostly in the daytime. Friday is 8-130.

many people worry about the schedule. first quarter is very busy, but in all honesty, not hard compared to prerequisites. We are just now getting into some a and p type of stuff and its getting harder. I plan to get a nurse tech job 3rd quarter, related to school and on call.

Take a deep breath, and if you really want this, take out loans. I don't work, when I did, I thought I could never make it. Now I just go to school and it's worth it to me because I am in the program and in less than 2 yrs I will double what I made before I started.

Good luck to you
