Taking my nclex for the 3rd time in 4 weeks... HELP!

Published

Hey everyone, First i am glad to say that i joined this site and so happy to find many people with helpful tips and advice.

A background about myself with the NCLEX, this will be my third time taking it. The first time i admit i did not put enough study time because i went on vacation right after graduation and only had three weeks to take the exam when i returned (totally my fault)

The second i took it, i renewed my subscription with kaplan and did everything they asked me to do,step by step. i was scoring scores that were sky high which gave me hope that i would pass the nclex this time around. Sadly, after taking the test i received the score of not passing. It was beyond devastating.

Now this will be my third time, and i will be taking it in 4 weeks. I am currently doing saunders tests everyday which contain 100 questions each, reading every rational and answer to understand what i am doing right and wrong. I also did HURST, and am reviewing the booklet they provide for you. I just feel like i am running out of options as to how and what to study from :(

My question is are these two sources enough?? Has anyone used them and passed the NCLEX? also, what should be my scores with Saunders? Im currently getting 50%-65%.

Any advice or help would greatly be appreciated!! I am just losing my patience and losing hope :(

please hellllpppp!

I used Hurst and Saunders to study for my exam (PN), and passed. I only studied for about 2 weeks prior. That said, it really depends on what your weaknesses are.

Did you look over your performance reports from your last two exams? That way you can concentrate on the areas in which you were weakest.

Best of luck!!!

Rainbow33 is right, it really depends on your weakness. Saunders is great for content. But in comparison to other review materials that I used, Saunders' practice

questions seemed on the easier side. I was scoring 80-90% on them, whereas

I was having a hard time to get those same percentage with Kaplan.

Some people pass with just using those books. Some people need a lot of references just to really immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of the diseases/disorders. And I am one of those people who used a lot of review materials. From Saunders to Hurst to Kaplan to Lippincott to Lacharity. But if you want to stick to those two, it's great too. Just make

sure you do lots of practice questions. So you can practice your tesk taking strategy and it will also test your core content knowledge.

You may want to add Lacharity's PDA book. That book is golden! Good luck on your exam! Praying for your success! :)

wow that is actually a great reminder! I should look over the categories i did weakest on and study those. Thank youuu!

I actually have PDA! I Just felt like it was so hard it was only making it worse for me because of the scores i was getting :(

That was how I felt like when I started answering PDA. I got horrible scores the first few topics. Then I got the hang of it and started to feel comfortable in answering those priority and delegation questions. Just keep on answering PDA and understand why you got it wrong. There's also another priority, delegation book that I got online for free. It has more questions than in PDA

Saunders does not offer NCLEX level questions. If you're doing poorly on PDA, I would recommend reviewing your content and also reviewing the rationales for the questions you got wrong with PDA. I also used Lippincott Q&A.

k&m_chitown where did you get the book for free? Im also studying and going in for the 3rd time please help!

Hi, what book is that?

The delegation you said you got online for free

Hi I'm sorry for the late response! The book is Prioritization, Delegation and Mgt of Care by Hargrove-Huttel. It is a free pdf file that I found online while I was reviewing for NCLEX-RN.
