Taking the NCLEX in California

Published

Hello everyone! I am set to graduate from an ADN program in Arizona and am wanting to get licensed in California. I am attempting to complete my RN Initial Exam Application because I saw that they recommend you register prior to graduating as it takes so long, but when it ask my end date/graduation date and I put December of 2015 and it says it does not accept future end dates. Am I going about this wrong? I am confused as to how you can apply prior to graduating the program if it doesn't accept future end dates. But I am probably missing something that's why I am asking :)

Also, if someone could just clear things up for me. If I graduate December and have my transcripts submitted then, does it take 4 weeks for the transcripts to be evaluated meaning I won't be able to take my nclex until around January-February? And then after that you have to wait some time to receive your license right?

Sorry to have so many questions! I just have no idea what I am doing. Thanks for the help!! Have a good day everyone.

I sent my application via snail mail so I didn't have the issue of when I graduated. My application was partially approved before I graduated, I received a letter saying that I was missing my transcripts. So I graduated, my school sent the transcripts and then I received my ATT number. Remember you have to pay the $200 to test with pearson before they will send you your ATT! As for time to get your license, I tested on Tuesday the 21st and the Breeze website had my license number posted Thursday morning when I checked at 7:30am. All my other classmates have also had their license number posted in 2-3 days. Yesterday 7/29 I got my diploma in the mail from the BRN! Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the quick response! That really helps. I will do a hard copy application then. How long before you graduated did you submit your application? And when you graduated and had your transcripts sent in, how long did it take for them to be evaluated? Thanks again and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I can't remember the exact date I sent it out but it was the beginning of April and I graduated May 18, our transcripts were sent out from the school June 2 and I received my ATT June 11. Also I sent my application overnight, cost $5 but was well worth getting my application in before the rush of everyone else and I was also able to know when they signed for it!

Good idea, thanks again!
