In order to legally seek work as a certified nursing assistant or nurse aide in Pennsylvania, individuals must fulfill the following requirements:
- Complete a state-approved program
- Pass a state-administered competency examination (and be at least 16 years of age at the time of the exam)
- Undergo a criminal history background check
Students who have successfully completed at least one year of learning in an accredited nursing program, or have been certified as a nurse aide in another state, can petition Pennsylvania to waive the education requirement in an effort to quickly gain CNA Philadelphia certification.

Today, every state both approves Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs and maintains a state Nurse Aide Registry. Only programs approved in each state may qualify students for CNA certification, and individuals may only practice as a CNA if they are on a given state's official registry.

i lived in Ohio and right before i had to suddenly move i had just finished my CNA training course. I moved to Philadelphia and i was wondering if its possible to take the Exam in Philadelphia even though i have out of state training or would i have to go all the way back to Ohio or retake the whole course in PA?
