As nurses, we must stand our ground while reporting harassment. Many organizations prefer to diminish the situation and detour you from reporting the harassment.
Just yesterday I was involved in a heated interaction with a physician. He is still upset with me from an incident from two weeks ago, when a patient complained about him to me. He asked me how she was doing and I told him she was upset with him because she came out of surgery with 3 JP drains and she was not expecting that. He stormed right into her room and started yelling at her that she should be happy he saved her life and she better change her attitude towards him or he would stop making rounds on her completely. I interjected and said "This needs to stop now" and walked out.
Yestersay, I had the pleasure of seeing him again. I was waiting in line to get medications from the Pyxis and he told me he was discharging the patient in room 11. I told him her blood pressure had been running high and rattled off this mornings blood pressure to him. He asked me when the last time she got IV medication was
