Has anyone ever worked or travelled to South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center? My sister lives in Sun City Center and she keeps trying to get me to move there from New York State.
I have 30 years experience in the operating room.
Just wondering what the working atmosphere is like there--good or bad? I know it is HCA. Thanks for any info.

I haven't worked at Sun City but did interview when I came back to FL 2 years ago. What an odd place. You probably know you have to be at least 55 to buy property there. Thats fine and all, but walking around anywhere there and not seeing anyone under 70 just seems a bit strange.
It's almost like walking around in an episode of the twilight zone.
The biggest ailments there are MIs and golf cart collisions. The golf carts are everywhere and they have, I kid you not, stretch golf carts.
I've never heard anything bad about the hospital, but it is as you already know: HCA.
Take care.
Thanks for your reply Daves.
Yes--Sun City Center is a 55+ retirement community. I have been there twice to visit my sister. Yes it did seem very strange to see the golf carts and older residents. It is nice there but even though I am 55+ I don't think I am at the "older resident" stage yet. I try to stay "young" in my mind--active, walking and going to the gym (when I am not too burned out from work).
I am thinking of moving on from my full-time job of 30+ years to try travelling. Management is restructuring our operating room, cutting staff and expecting us to do more, while their annual salaries increase. I live in New York State. While I don't mind the cold and snow, I do not like the many gray depressing days with no sun.
Do you know if there are seasonal operating room jobs around Sun City Center? Or maybe working conditions are like this all over the country, and I should just tough it out where I am at for a few more years?
Thank for any info,
