I'm a junior nursing major at UNH, and this is the second year that I've been trying to find a summer intern- or externship, or even a summer CNA or PCA type job. Last year, I never heard back from anywhere, and ended up getting hired at an assisted living facility in July.
However, I feel like so many of my classmates are finding and getting amazing jobs where they're receiving so much experience, and I feel like I'm lagging so far behind!
My dream is to be pediatric oncology nurse practitioner, and I am absolutely in love with my pediatric and maternity clinicals right now. Ideally, I'd like something in pediatrics.
I've applied to Children's (which would be first choice, but everyone says it's so difficult and political to get in there) as instructed by the woman I spoke with a a job fair we had at school (Children's was the only hospital from MA there), but I haven't heard anything. I also applied for jobs/sent my resume and cover letter to Mass General, Tufts-NEMC, Dana Farber, Beth Israel, Brigham & Women's, Beverly Hospital, North Shore Children's.
I'm getting so nervous and desperate, I've started applying to places such as Connecticut Children's Medical Center, which is over 2 hours from where I live!
Does anyone have any tips, or suggestions?
