Suctioning a trach

Hello. I was wondering if there are any tips for suctioning a trach.  When I suction them, I gag and feel like I am going to vomit.

I had the same issue how I combated that was I would inhale deeply hold it and it exhaled deeply so my focus basically was on my breathing and not on the fact that the person was gagging and it helped me
