student transferring from Phils to US

Published

hello! :heartbeat i have a problem and i have no idea what to do about it. i was taking up BSN in the phils, i ALMOST graduated but i wasnt able to go back in time to finish my last nursing major. to the Filipinos out there who might know what i'm taking about, i was on my last NCM (Nursing Care & Management). it was NCM 205 and its about philippine nursing law and management. i had only that and a minor subject, asian civilization, to finish. anywho, im stuck here in the US and i have no idea what to do. i wanna study here but i dunno what course to apply to. there are so many nursing courses from CNA to RN to whatnot. and im scared that i wont be accepted into any school coz i probably have a really low GPA. i kinda went downhill starting my 3rd year in college so i have alota fails and drops and i dunno how that affects my GPA. i wish i had studied harder. to make matters worse, i started studying nursing in the year 2001. its 2008 already. dont schools have like a 5 year boundary for transfer credits and stuff like that? i'm a permanent resident btw, so i dunno which i should file under too, international or what...

waah...someone please help me...:sniff:

You are SO cute with your anywho's and dunno's....:chuckle

anywayz...yes, you need to get a good GPA to get into the nursing program...here in Nevada, you need to get at least a 2.75 to 3.00 to be accepted.

But before you freak out, you need to consult the school counsellor for any pre requisite subjects you need to take before applying for the program...I took a fulltime sched with no credited subjects from PI (I was out from school for more than 5 years before I went back) and it had me for 2 years before I was accepted.

ANYWHO'S :chuckle

I'm on my first sem, first year at CSN, and I am really glad that I studied well because prof's and mentors uses med terminologies and abbreviations to teach!

ANYWHO'S :chuckle

Goodluck and study well next time...

BTW...

What do u mean by international?!?

You are a permanent resident, right? So YOU are a US resident!

You are SO cute...:dncgbby:

Goodluck :p

Do you have any community colleges close to where you live? I think you should contact them and ask about their nursing programs, and I'm sure they would be happy to help you figure out what to do.
