Science GPA

When you apply to a school, I know they figure your overall GPA abd your science GPA. When the science GPA is calculated do they take the overall GPA for all science classes or do you have to have a (whatever) for each class?

ie: If the minimum science GPA is a 3.0...does that mean you have to have a 3.0 in EACH science course or is it a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 for all science classes together?

I have a C in 1 of my science classes, but my overall science GPA is a 3.4 (I think). Just trying to figure out if I need to retake that 1 class.

yes, it's an overall gpa, but they tend to look quite closely to the sciences, and especially if one or more classes weren't quite up to par. now, with that being said, it could also depend on what that science class was that you got a C in. physio/A&P/chem will weigh more heavily for or against you than say genetics (not to belittle genetics by any means), but the programs are usually heavily weighted on the previous ones listed, along with gourds of pharm. so, if you have time and money to retake, then do it. won't hurt, and could show ad coms that you are just that much more serious. also, what you could do is call some programs and see what they think. perhaps they may want you to take some other class to compensate, having more relevance than your C class. just some thoughts.
