The article you posted discusses the job situation in Britain, not the United States. I'm not familiar with the situation in Britain, but in the U.S., there is a nursing shortage in most areas of the country. I live in Portland, OR, and there are at least eight (8) nursing schools in the metropolitan area, but even with all of these graduates needing jobs at around the same time, new nurses generally do not have a problem getting jobs right out of school. In fact, 100% of the graduates of my program in 2005 had jobs BEFORE they graduated in June (some as early as April). It is estimated that by the year 2020, 46% of nursing jobs in Oregon will be unfilled.
