I am a nursing student in my final term of nursing school to become a Registered Nurse. I am about to begin my preceptorship placement on the Orthopaedic Trauma unit of a local hospital, and this area is quite new to me as previously I have only worked on Sub-Acute/Medical floors.
As Orthopaedic nurses, I was wondering if you would be able to give me some helpful advice on certain areas/resources I might want to read up on that would prepare me before I start my preceptorship this Wednesday? It might help ease some of the nerves!
Also, if you have had previous students on your ward, what would you like to see them achieve? (Maybe areas you have seen them have trouble with in the past…)
Any advice is welcome and I am looking forward to gaining experience in your specialty!
