Has anyone ever done the SNAP (Student Nurse Apprentice Program) with Novant Health? What was your experience like? Was it payed? How many shifts a week and on what floors did you apprentice? Does anyone have any advice on student nurse apprenticeships, internships or externships for nursing students going into their senior year? How hard is it to get one?
My school received an email stating that there were spots to fill and I am really wanting some more clinical experience in a bigger hospital. I think that any clinical experience involving a high acuity patient population would be very helpful. Thank you for any advice or stories concerning your experiences.

Hey There! did you end up doing the SNAP program with Novant? I have an interview with them this Thursday and am wondering the same questions you had long ago.
Thanks!
Hey, congrats on having an interview!
They ended up emailing me back to say they already had selected their last few candidates.
However, this past fall our school was able to have the junior students apply through the official application process (which my cohort was not aware of) and I know a few juniors who got interviews. Some of them already work as CNAs at the Novant facilities in our area, so it sounded like they had a good chance of being accepted into the program.
When I attended the Novant Open House for new grads earlier this month, they were really positive about the applicants who had participated in SNAP, so I would definitely do it since it not only gives you clinical experience, but also allows you to possibly line up some job opportunities.
Wish you the best! Even if you don't get accepted, it is good to show initiative and at least try to get in touch with some managers so that you can maximize your marketability as a new grad.
