strengthen application

Hi, I currently have just completed my first semester of nursing school. My goal is to eventually become a CRNA. I just wanted to know what you could do to strengthen your applications. Now I know the basics of above 3.0 GPA, good GRE, certs., experince stuff like that. But is there anything else that would make you stand out. One possibility that I am going to do is join the Navy Nurse Reserves when I graduate next year. I have always wanted to join the military and figured this could also not hurt. Also I planned on taking a graduate class a semester while working when I graduate. But I was hoping if some people could give any helpful advice that maybe you do not hear alot or would not think of that could give us trying to reach our goal. Any help would be much appreciated.
