Straight to BSN or do ADN then RN-BSN online?

Published

I originally was planning on transfering to a four-year and going straight into a BSN program. Now I am considering staying at my 2-year and getting my ADN, then doing the RN-BSN at Excelsior. I'm interested in getting my MSN eventually. Has anyone gotten their ADN with the intention of doing and online RN-BSN? If so how did it go?

Well.............if it were me, I would just bite the bullet and do the BSN.

But moving along in steps, is not always a bad thing either.

Do you have a lot of gen. ed credits?

Yeah, I've completed all my gen ed. I'm doing prereqs this fall (A&P I and II and Micro). If I transfer I will have to take a couple more gen ed classes plus special chem classes that will result in a one semester delay in getting my BSN. If I stay I should be able to start the ADN program in fall '09.

It's a tough call. I think I would save a lot of money staying at my CC.
