Stenberg College for Psychiatric Nursing?

Published

Hello everyone. I've been laid off from my job at a surgical clinic in Abbotsford due to COVID-19, which has given me some time to think about going back to school. I've always interacted with a tonne of correctional and psychiatric patients in the clinic, due to its proximity to many hospitals and a prison. I've always been interested in nursing, and actually took quite a few post-secondary psychology, sociology, and philosophy classes at UBC and BCIT after high school.

Life got in the way and I ended up starting a family before finishing my bachelor's degree. I've been working at the surgical clinic for 6 years now, and feel that I owe it to myself to go back to school and pursue psychiatric nursing. I've been volunteering with dementia patients at a care centre and have done a lot of research into psych nursing. Stenberg College seems like a great option since there's more online work and they take care of arranging practicums and clinicals. Plus, the program is only 28 months long. Does anyone have any current info on the psychiatric nursing program there? Any recent grads? Anyone working as an RPN that graduated from this school? I would really appreciate learning more about your experience and if it's recommended.

Thanks!
