It depends on your state regulations and what your particular facility allows you to do. When you perform any function in a hospital (I use hospitals as an example) you work under the rules of delegation as outlined by the nurse practice act for that particular state. The board outlines to the RN what he/she may delegate to a CNA, LPN etc.
I wanted to find out what could not be delegated to me, for the residents safety and to protect myself. The little things that go above my job description or what I was trained to do. An example would be setting an O2 tank, giving meds you drink with lunch. I guess I should of asked-what a rn can delegate to cna. Not what they think I should do but what I was allowed to do by the state. Thanks for info. I am going to find nurse practice act and see if I can find what I am looking for.
